Job Summary
The Medical-Surgical RN provides safe, high-quality nursing care to patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions. This role includes assessing patient needs, developing and implementing care plans, and collaborating with the healthcare team to support optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care, including medication administration, monitoring, and nursing interventions
- Assess patient conditions, develop care plans, and document care accurately
- Coordinate total nursing care and ensure continuity of care
- Educate patients and families on conditions, treatments, medications, and discharge plans
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members
- Supervise and support ancillary nursing staff
- Respond to changes in patient condition and emergencies as needed
- Follow hospital policies, safety standards, and infection control protocols
Qualifications
- Active New York State RN license
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (as required)
- Medical-surgical experience preferred, but not required
