This full-time Staff Nurse I position is based at 6400 Fannin Street, Houston, Texas 77030, located in the Texas Medical Center. The role follows a Monday through Friday day shift schedule and does not require nights, weekends, or holidays, offering excellent work–life balance in a clinical outpatient setting.
UTHealth Houston Neurosciences is seeking a Staff Nurse I to join its interdisciplinary care team, providing comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with complex healthcare needs while supporting efficient clinic operations and care coordination.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care and clinical support to patients and families
- Perform patient intake, screening, focused and comprehensive assessments, and ongoing monitoring
- Assist with scheduling appointments, procedures, referrals, and surgeries
- Monitor patient symptoms, side effects, and responses to treatment plans
- Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, and external healthcare providers
- Conduct onsite and telephone triage using best-practice guidelines
- Develop, implement, and document individualized nursing plans of care
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, health maintenance, and recovery
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with nursing standards and HIPAA
- Support clinic efficiency through effective scheduling, resource use, and supply management
- Communicate critical findings promptly and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team
- Advocate for patient safety, quality care, and a respectful clinical environment
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred
- Nursing degree from an accredited program (Bachelor’s, Associate’s, or diploma)
- No prior experience required; new graduate nurses are encouraged to apply
- Strong communication, organizational, and clinical judgment skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment
- Ability to meet physical demands, including lifting up to 50 pounds as required
- Must meet security-sensitive position requirements and pass required background checks
- Must reside and work in the State of Texas
