This part-time Registered Nurse position is based at Coachella Valley Behavioral Health, a new inpatient behavioral health hospital for adults age 18 and older. The role follows a night shift schedule of 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, working 24 hours per week in 12-hour shifts. The facility is opening soon and will be an 80-bed inpatient treatment center designed to set a new standard for nursing care in behavioral health.
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide professional nursing care in a therapeutic inpatient setting, supporting patient safety, recovery, and dignity. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to deliver compassionate, high-quality care while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and professional approach.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care within the scope of practice and in accordance with state Nurse Practice Act regulations, facility policies, and clinical protocols
- Assess patient condition on an ongoing basis and document findings accurately and timely
- Administer medications safely, accurately, and in compliance with physician orders and documentation requirements
- Monitor patient response to medications, detox processes, and treatment plans, reporting significant changes promptly
- Develop and implement individualized nursing treatment plans based on assessed patient needs
- Complete admission and discharge processes efficiently and accurately
- Maintain accurate medication counts and controlled substance documentation
- Demonstrate proper use of universal precautions and infection control practices
- Establish and maintain therapeutic rapport with patients while upholding professional boundaries
- Coordinate unit activities and communicate effectively with physicians, staff, patients, and visitors
- Support a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
Job Requirements & Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing required
- One or more years of nursing experience preferred, particularly in behavioral health or inpatient settings
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
- CPR certification required
- De-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided upon hire)
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient environment
