Position Overview
Saint John Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN) to join our night-shift team. In this fast-paced emergency department, the ER RN delivers urgent, high-quality care to patients experiencing acute illness or injury while collaborating closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
ER RNs serve as frontline caregivers, performing rapid assessments, initiating life-saving interventions, administering medications, and managing evolving emergency situations with confidence and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with varying levels of acuity
- Perform rapid triage assessments and prioritize care using established protocols
- Initiate and manage IV therapy, medications, wound care, and basic life support
- Assist in resuscitation efforts, including CPR and defibrillation
- Prepare and maintain equipment for emergency procedures (intubation, central lines, etc.)
- Support patient stabilization for trauma, cardiac arrest, and acute medical conditions
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff
Qualifications
- Current and valid Kansas RN License
- BLS (AHA) required upon hire
- ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of hire
- Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire
- TNCC required within 6 months of hire
- Minimum 1 year of acute care RN experience (ER experience preferred)
- CEN certification preferred
- BSN preferred
Facility-Specific Requirements (as applicable):
- MICN certification within 12 months (Paramedic Base Station ED)
- Emergency pediatric courses (EDAP facilities) within 6 months
- NRP certification within 90 days for non-OB facilities
